My Education and Experience |
I was born and raised in Bismarck, ND. My home parish was the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, and I also attended the Cathedral school from 1st grade to 8th grade. I then attended St. Mary's Central High School. Catholic Schools have been a major factor in my life. Without my Catholic education, I don't think I would be Catholic today. The Catholic education that I received helped me ask the right questions about life and our faith, but also, the Catholic schools gave me good reasons to believe what the Church teaches. The education that I received taught me how to be a virtuous person, and it also gave me the tools in life to excel and to be happy. I firmly believe that a Catholic education is one of the greatest gifts a parent can give to his or her child. At its best Catholic education is capable of providing educational experiences that deeply root the Catholic faith in the soul of the student and propel them to a life of virtue and happiness so desired for us by our Lord.
After high school, I went on the Rome pilgrimage with my classmates from St. Mary's. It was there that I experienced the Church in a new way. I realized the Church wasn't only just a local entity, because I saw the Church on a universal level, which encompasses people from over the world. I then attended the University of North Dakota and studied civil engineering. I then entered the seminary after my freshman year and attended St. John Vianney College Seminary at the University to St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. The bishop then sent me to Rome for major seminary to study theology at the University of St. Thomas in the City (The Angelicum). After four years in Rome, Bishop David D. Kagan ordained me a priest on May 31, 2016, at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. |
